Spring Has Sprung, It's Maple Syrup Time!

You'll know spring is just around the corner when you see clouds of steam and smoke billowing from sugar houses throughout Parke County. Always held the last weekend of February and the first weekend of March, the Parke County Maple Syrup Festival treats visitors to steaming pancakes covered in locally made syrup.

The Sap is Running.....It's Maple Syrup Time
A sure sign of spring in Parke County is when you see clouds of steam and smoke billowing from sugar houses, where sugar water is being boiled down to make that rich Parke County maple syrup.
Nearly 60 gallons of sugar water are hauled into the camp from the woods for every gallon of syrup produced.
